Ingredients:
1 lb (450g) ground beef (80% lean)
1 egg
1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably plain)
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup ketchup (plus extra for topping)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
1 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, minced garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and any optional herbs you like (thyme and oregano).
Mix: Use your hands or a spoon to mix the ingredients together until everything is well combined, but be careful not to overmix, as this can make the meatloaf tough.
Form the Meatloaf: Transfer the mixture into a loaf pan and shape it into a loaf shape, or form the meat mixture into a loaf shape and place it on a baking sheet if you prefer.
Bake: Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for about 60-75 minutes, or until the meatloaf reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
Add Ketchup: In the last 10 minutes of baking, spread a thin layer of ketchup over the top of the meatloaf for a glaze.
Rest and Serve: Once done, remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. This will help the juices redistribute and keep the meatloaf moist.
Serve: Slice and serve with mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or a side salad. Enjoy!
This classic meatloaf is simple, flavorful, and loved recipe. You can also customize it by adding ingredients like bell peppers, mushrooms, or cheese to the mixture.
